Twice Girlies Have School Photos Today

Alright, this is the end of the second week of the 2013/2014 school year. So far my twins have not had a lot of homework. This week they did two math pages, read all week long with Mommy from the McGuffey's Reader. This book has good stories in it and prayers to. My twins also studied for their spelling test and put together an "All About Me"/Show and Tell" brown bag for class. Their second week of school has been pretty slow and easy. I am hoping they receive more school work soon and I receive their teacher's email address to.

Oh, my twins also plan to purchase some books from Scholastic in their library either today or some time next week. I think my twins like to look through the book catalog and buy the books, instead of reading the books they buy. I don't know, maybe it is just me, but this is what I see. Mommy will have them loving to read by the end of the year though. My twins know Mommy loves reading. I can read 2-3 books at a time on my Kindle Fire.

Oh but I digress.....

So today is their 2013/2014 school photo session. I had them wear the outfit they wore on the first day of school last year. I love this outfit and with all the awesome clothes they have to wear everyday, I had planned on them wearing this totally cool dress Auntie Amy got them, but then I was looking through their closet and found these cute tops/shirts sets Nana got them last year for the first day of school.

Well, I changed my mind at the last moment, last night as they were going to bed. So, this is what they are wearing and I hope their photos turn out good..Last years photo was alright, but I would like this years to turn out better...

Here is for hoping and praying....

Twins Begin School This Week

My twins began school this week. Even though their summer was short, we did a lot to keep them busy and just have a fun time. We went to see my parents, sister (and her boys-my nephews-my twins cousins), and  my Gramma and one of my Aunt's. We stayed at my parents home for two weeks. Those two weeks went by way to fast, in my opinion, but my twins had a great time at the beach, 2x, park, going to get a pedi and manicure, going to movies and shopping.

Then, the weekend before school began, we went to a campsite near a Northern California beach. It was cold....and we might not go to that campsite again. But my goodness, we should have known it would be cold. The Northern California beaches are usually always colder than in Southern California. Well, on our last day of camping, we drove down 17 Mile Drive, hoping to see some Deer. We saw no Deer, but we stopped at each cove and got out of our car to play in the water.

My twins, they love the ocean water, warm or cold. This day was no different. They put on their swim suits and played in the water. BRRR, no thank you! I passed on playing in the water. While playing in the water, we did play in the  Tide Pools. My twins, silly girls, would call the Tide Pools, 'tight pools' or something like this.

All in all, we had a great summer. It is a shame school has to begin when it is still hot outside. I miss the days when starting school after Labor Day was the norm. I do not understand why the schools, public I suppose, have to start school in August.

Anyway, this was the first week of school. My twins are in the 3rd grade now and they love their teacher! They have a lot of their friends from last year in their class this year. Some of their close friends though, are not attending their school this year and my twins are sad. So is Mommy. We pray though that my  twins close friend will be able to attend my twins school like she did in 1st grade.

This year, in my twins classroom, all the students have their own desks, facing the blackboard and the classroom is small, but there are still the same amount of students as last year. Just like 1st and 2nd grade, my twins are not sitting next to each other. This is a plus for me, my twins and the teacher.

Now, unlike last year, my twins will have to complete a homework assignment everyday to be handed in everyday. This should be easy for my twins though and it allows my twins to not be lazy. Yesterday was Open House, I think it is called Open House, to meet the teacher. She is adorable and has such a good attitude. I like how her class is structured and all the rules for the class she passed out to the parents.

Yeah, this will be a good school year, indeed!

Ciao!

Twins without television-1 week-Day 5

Yeah, we made it to Friday (TGIF). Well since the twins had no homework today, guess what the first thing they asked about when they walked into the backdoor? "Can we watch some TV?" Oh, I knew it was going to happen, but was really hoping, deep down, they were not going to ask. Needless to say, they wanted to watch and I gave in.

I mean, I really did not think it would last...forever, but it was good while it lasted. I did give my twins one stipulation though, I said, "The only time you can watch television is on Friday when you get home from school until Sunday evening and then back to the Monday through Thursday routine." I mean, it is still semi not watching television, right?

There is this one show on a popular kids channel my twins like to watch and I watch it sometimes with the twins. Well I watched in on Friday and one of the daughters in this show talks to her Mom, raising her voice and called her Mom, "Woman". I was like, "Girls, you do NOT call Mommy "Woman" this is total disrespect and this is what all these "new" kids shows writers are doing, having the actors speak these lines where they parents are looked down on as nothings and as complete idiots."

This is why I wanted to see if they could go a week without watching television. It did not seem to phase them at all...until Friday when they got  home from school. I really want to keep this going, along with seeing if I can cut down or out altogether their sugar intake. It is always easier said than done.

Keep me in your prayers.

I am their example and since I do not watch television at all anymore, I can be that example. Although, the sugar thing is something I am still struggling with. So yeah, prayer, this will be greatly appreciated.

I will keep this *blog: Twins without television....* going and if I forget to write, remind me..

God Bless...

Ciao!

Twins without television-1 week-Day 4

It is now day 4 and we are over the hump, even though there was a little hiccup. So today when the twins got home we sat at the dining table as always and begin doing homework. Like the days before, twins have not talked or asked about watching television. This had me beaming knowing they really could not care less if the television was on and they might be missing a show they liked.

After homework, like the days before, they did their chores and then we played a game of Brain Quest. Oh, this is a fun learning game. Well, it is disguised as a game and it is really fun. I mean, I do not even know a lot of the questions in this game, and quite frankly, why would I?

Yeah, this is a fun game and it goes from grade 1 to 6 with five categories :Math, Science, Reading, Arts and The World. I love this game! This was a Christmas gift to the twins from Daddy and we all play together or just The Girls.

Anyway, today the twins did not bring up television at all and that made Mommy a Happy Camper. Now, let me see if the twins will not watch television until at least Friday evening. (Cross my fingers!)

TwiceBabies and Their Daily Routine

My twins, I do love them dearly, love their daily routine. Whether they are going to preschool or staying home for the day, they have a certain time they like to get up, get dressed, get their breakfast and milk. Almost everyday, their routine is the same. This is true especially when they go down for a nap and get their afternoon junk snack, as I call it.

My twins know the difference between their junk food snack and their healthy snack. Now personally, I prefer to give them a healthy food snack of apples, bananas, Mandarin oranges, cantaloupe, baby carrots, sliced celery with peanut butter and strawberries. Unfortunately, my twins prefer the former for their snack food, anything sweet. With my twins, I am not shy or keep things from them. In fact, I will and have told them time and time again, "Processed junk food, made by man and not by God, are bad for you and will harm your body and mind." Mommy, that is me, prefers her little girls stay healthy instead of sick, taking OTC meds and/or in the hospital.

When my twins wake up from nap, they love to watch some cartoons and then turn around and play with their thousands of stuffed animals and dollhouse. Well, their dollhouse needs to be fixed or I need to find them a new one. I was looking at a wooden one online that looks nice and is within my price range, actual price and shipping/handling costs.

Recently, I purchased a tent for my twins. They were always asking me to make them a tent. But, their tent seemed to be all over the family room. So, I went online and found two really cute princess castle shaped tents. First, I purchased one, found it was too small for both of them and purchased another one. Now, they have all of, if not most, of their stuffed animals inside their tents. I just do not allow liquid or foods in their as I know they would leave them in there.

So, this is my twins daily routine, how is your kids daily routine?
