4 Cheap Crafts for Girls

Kids, especially girls, love to do crafts. Crafts don’t have to cost a bundle and they don’t have to make a mess. Here are four easy, cheap crafts that girls, and their moms, will love.
1.      Name Bracelets – Little girls love to make bracelets for themselves and their friends. The more you personalize it, the better. Well, what can be more personal than your own name? All this easy craft requires is some clear elastic string and some of those white letter beads. The girls will have a blast spelling out individual names and can even make ‘best friend’ bracelets with both their names together.

2.      Toilet Paper Princess – Have the girls design their own princess or wedding dresses out of toilet paper. A staple at wedding showers, this game slash craft is fun for little kids too, and a breeze to clean up. Just shred and toss when they are done. Have the girls put on a fashion show and take lots of cute pictures!

Lunch Bag Puppets –Making a puppet has never been easier. Lunch sacks are the perfect size and can be easily decorated with markers, crayon, glitter, sticker, and googly eyes. Have the girls create a puppet show and name their new friends. They can be used over and over again, and there is endless variation. You can even make hair and clothes out of construction paper, felt and yarn.

4.      Make Your Own Storybook – If you want to incorporate some education into your crafting, have your girls create their own fairy tales. All this takes is a stack of construction paper, a hole-punch, and some yarn. Get a few sheets of construction paper gathered together, punch two holes in one side, and bind with yarn. Voila, instant book. Then have the girls write and illustrate their own stories. They can read them aloud and share with their friends.

These crafts are easy, fun, and don’t make a big mess. Best of all, your girls will love to do them. Try one of these on a rainy day to keep the kids entertained. They are sure to be a hit.

TwiceToddlers at Michael's

This morning, before heading out to the park, we all went into Michael's. You know, I really like this store...can you tell? I must go at least 3 times a month. So this morning, we all went into Michael's to get the girls some more wooden dolls to color. These dolls are pretty cool. They come with four colors to use to color the wooden girl dolls whatever color or way my twins want to.

On this Michael's excursion, we picked up 4 dolls a piece, one horse and one car a piece for them. Yes, these are all wooden pieces which keep them occupied. When you have twins that are as busy as mine, you need...no must...keep them occupied all the time.

Along with the wooden dolls, we got then a hand puppet a piece, a paddle ball (which they will break in two shakes of a lamb's tale), a small wooden bird house to paint as well.

Finally, we got Mommy some goodies. Since I like making candies with molds and chocolates I find at Michael's, I had to purchase two new molds, two bags of chocolate (pink and white), gold wrapping paper and candy sticks. The only thing I did not see was that paper for allowing candies or dipped fruit to dry on. All in all, we had a fun time in Michael's and got one more coupon to use by the 12th. I will see if my Mom and I can go when my parent's come up for the twins graduation ceremony...

TwiceToddlers are so Bored

My twins, they are 4 years old and just have so much energy which needs to be released. All they want to do is play. Daddy and Mommy will take them to the mall to go on the Min-Go-Round and play in the arcade, but the rain and cold weather, it seems to keep us indoors.

My twins are just getting so tired of playing inside and I am sure, of watching Disney movies and their cartoon shows they watch on the weekdays. Daddy and Mommy do have two or three games in which they can play as these games are for toddlers. But my twins just will not sit still as many toddlers I am sure.

With days like this, raining off and on and it being chilly, I do read books to them. I just purchased three books for them at the dollar store. Two small Disney books and one Christian book for toddlers too. I did not see any crafts for toddlers to do at the Dollar store, too bad.

My twins do have their Leapster II's which they like. They have a Dora and Diego game cartridge they interchange and they do like playing those games as they are learning more about letters and numbers and taking direction. My twins are in preschool, so they are learning to take direction in preschool and their dance class, but these games are also fun learning games for them. I play to download a book each for them on their Leapster pretty soon.

My twins like to play "Duck, Duck, Duck, Duck...Goose.." The only problem is, they say "Duck, Duck.." too many times and they do not play correctly..that game is a wash for me...

So, as the winter days continue and our time is more indoors that outdoors, my twins continue with their boredom and so does Mommy.
