Twins Without Sweets..

Oh yeah, it is Monday and another week. If you read my previous blog articles about my Twins Without Television you would have seen in my title, Week 1, Day 1, et. al.. Well, with my new blog article subject, I will not be doing this Week 1, Day 1....yet. This is just as much a struggle for me, as it is for my twins. So, until I can get this under control, it will probably remain the same.

If anything, keep me and my twins in your prayers that we will stop eating all these sweets, junk foods, and other not made for human consumption 'foods'. Honestly, I think everything made with sugar is made with aspartame (nutrasweet, sweet n low, et. al.)( rat poisoning) and is just slowly hurting our bodies and minds. I will not say what it is really doing to us, I suggest you research it yourself.

One of the hardest habits to break is probably eating unhealthy "foods". Before you buy anything, especially on a store shelf, please read every single label. Almost every, single "food" you see on a store shelf has preservatives in it. Those preservatives are not meant to preserve your life, oh no, far from it. Do you see where I am going with this?

Now, how do we learn about sweet "treats" and all those "enticing" foods we just have to have? Raise your hands if you know the answer. Oh, I see a couple of hands in the back. Yes, what is your answer?

"I think it is from watching television."

"Yes, you would be correct. It is from watching television."

"Let's not forget mailers and sometimes radio commercials."

"Yes, you over there in the back."

"How about in grocery stores. They have row after row, end caps and checkout lines full of junk foods, gum and trashy magazines to look out and (purchase),"

"Yes, right again. Other places that sell sweet foods are health food stores, even big chain health food stores sell sweet foods. It is kind of any oxymoron, but we still buy the sweets in their stores anyway."

Do you ever wonder this...if we ALL just stopped eating junk food we would live longer and win over the industries that want to harm us?

Something to think about..

Alright...so I will write again on Tuesday.

Twins Without Television:Week 3, Day 1

So today is MLK, twins were not in school, but last night my twins had a sleepover at their friends home. They got home around 1ish and we just stayed home the rest of the day. They played outside and I attempted to read to them, that never happened.

Well, since they did not go to school today, guess what Mommy let them do...you guessed it..they watched television. Well, they watched television and played outside. I was not going to allow them to sit in front of the television all day just because it was a day off school.

I do have my girls going to bed earlier now. They really do need the extra sleep since it takes them a while to actually fall asleep. But, when I spray lavender on their pillows and around the room, they tend to fall asleep faster.

Alright then, see you tomorrow,

Ciao!

Twins without television-1 week DAY 1

At the beginning of this week I told my twins they would not be watching TV for a week. So, on Sunday, today, my twins did not want TV. So far my twins have not complained about not being able to watch TV. They have their three or four shows they like to watch a lot. On of of the networks they watch shows on, they watch a show from the 1990s that I used to watch.

This show they watch is alright because the kids are not smart alec's and nasty to each other. The kids are not back talking to their parents or friends. This one show I have no problem allowing them to watch.

But the television, during the school week, is far too much and I just can not have it right now. So, this is the first week, yet, first week and first day, where my twins will not be watching TV.

TwiceToddlers Mom shows you How to Go to Sleep Without Prescription Drugs

These days, it takes a lot for many people to fall asleep. In fact, there are many commercials about asking your doctor to prescribe you a sleeping aid. The problem with sleeping aids is, they can become additive, even if the label or your doctors says they are not addictive. There are several ways in which you can fall asleep without becoming addicted to a drug or having any side effects.

BREATHE RIGHT STRIPS: For a long time now, these Breathe Rights Strips have been on the market. These little strips will help you sleep better because they open up your nasal passage. They allow you to be congestion free, along with no more snoring. It is never easy to fall asleep with a stuffy nose and runny eyes. Runny eyes usually coincide with a stuffy nose. There is something about the way this product is made, using a particular kind of flexible band, which allows for your each side of nose to lift up. With each side of your nose lifts up, you are now able to sleep better. The snoring is also subside.

SLEEPING SPRAY AND LOTIONS: Another great, and drug free way, of falling asleep faster at night is by using applying aromatherapy spray on your pillow at night. Aromatherapy is a great sleeping aid. You can use between one to three spritz on your pillow and sheets. Along with the spray, rubbing any aromatherapy lotion on your arms and neck will relax you. In no time, probably ten to fifteen minutes, you will fall asleep. It really works and this is a great drug free way of getting to sleep fast. Along with these products shown, you can also try Lavender Oils, Sandalwood Oils, Lavender Chamomile and many more.

HUMIDIFIERS: There are several humidifiers on the market today. There is one humidifier that allows you to sleep better. The one in this photo is not it. But, the Vicks Humidifier, V3500N Cool Mist, will allow for you to fall asleep. It lets out a cool mist, allowing you to breathe better. When you are able to breathe better, you can also sleep better.

LISTENING TO RELAXING MUSIC: If none of the above is a way you would want to fall asleep, how about music? The sounds of nature or classical music are another way to fall asleep. Listening to the sound of rain or thunder will put you to sleep. Having some other white noise (dishwasher, dryer or washer) in use, somewhere in your home, is a good way to fall asleep.

Sleeping these days seems to be one thing many of us lack. If there are better ways to fall asleep, without drugs, any of the above solutions will help you. Drugs are not always the solution, unless you have apnea. If you have sleep apnea, you need to be under a doctor's care.
